Derek Scrimgeour, one of the UK's premier sheepdog handlers and trainers, has spent the last 20 years farming his flock of Swaledale sheep on the rugged Cumbrian fells in North England.

With a thousand sheep grazing on miles of steep rocky land, Derek relies heavily on his team of capable and talented sheepdogs to tend his sheep throughout the year, often in harsh and treacherous conditions. Derek shares his techniques for training the Border Collie to flank, lie down, outrun, drive, shed and go back, all the skills that a dog needs to work effectively on the hill. Derek also shows how these skills are used in everyday work situations on the fell.
