The Vital Training Stick

It costs virtually nothing but correctly used, will HALVE  the time it takes to train your dog!

A dog, some suitable stock such as sheep or cattle, and an appropriate training area are all essential to training a herding dog, but there's something else that will make your training easier and far quicker - the training stick.

It costs next to nothing, but used correctly and good timing, the simple training stick (a piece of lightweight plastic pipe) is invaluable for guiding or blocking the dog, and to encourage it to stay back off the stock. Even in the open field, the training stick continues to be highly effective when the dog is more than fifty metres from the handler.

Since we discovered the best way to use the stick, it's halved the time it takes us to train a sheepdog. The Training Stick tutorial clearly shows how to use the stick, and why it works so well.

The training stick is so effective, it's possible to teach the dog to work its stock to a level where it can control the stock in an open field without the need for any verbal commands from the trainer, other than to encourage the dog to come forward.
