Puppy Faye and the dogs don't like it too hot
Three years ago today, the weather was unexpectedly hot - just as it is in the UK today. Unlike today though, we'd just had a spell of really heavy rain, and our (normally dried up) pond had some water in it for a change, so the dogs wasted no time in enjoying it to the full.
A good dog must circle fluently both ways
Just as most humans are left or right-handed, the majority of herding dogs favour working in one direction over another. Often, sheep and cattle dog handlers are not bothered if their dog will only go in one direction to gather the stock, as long as it brings them successfully.
In our latest sheepdog training video, (duration 5.5 minutes) Andy demonstrates a typical situation which would go horribly wrong if the dog would only flank one way.

Dog beds are for sleeping in - whichever way up they happen to be!
This time last year, these pups weren't put off by their bed being propped against the wall to dry. They just climbed in and went to sleep as though nothing had happened.

Some of our working sheepdogs at rest
We thought you'd like to see this picture of some of the dogs taking a break from playing. The picture was taken on this day five years ago (20th May 2012).
